September Sneak Peeks!!!

Happy Saturday!

Quite honestly, where did the summer go? As much as I love Autumn and all the wonderful things that it brings I'm just not ready for the cooler weather. I was dropping Brandon off at school and one of the mom's looked at Jessica and said..."I can't believe it's hat weather already although Jessica does look cute in a hat!"

Yep, she's a cutie! She does have a little bit of a concerned look on her face...she may not be thrilled about this weather although it looks like she's giving us all a thumbs up! It's all good! lol

I may not be ready for the cold weather but I am ready to share some new stamps and dies with all of you!!! I'm super excited about our September release and today the YNS DT have some fabulous sneak peeks for you!

Grab a coffee, tea, hot cider, latte...well, you get the point and stop by their blogs and have a peek at their projects!

Tips and Tricks with YNS Digi Stamps - Texture

Good morning everyone and happy Wednesday!

Deborah here and today I would like to share with you how to create texture on your digi stamps when coloring with alcohol markers. As you know, YNS has some pretty adorable digis and many that are bears. I think these bears are just too cute and I have a hard time NOT texturizing their fur when coloring it in.

To start, I printed the image Love Painting, which is a new release here at YNS, on some Neenah cardstock and gave it a quick shot of heat from my heat gun. TIP: Start with coloring the image you plan on giving some texture to only! That way the rest of the image won't get disturbed by your technique. Now, choose your color collection you plan on coloring him in with and lets get started!

I am using Copics and have chosen E41, E42, E43, and E44 for my color collection.

I started by coloring my entire image in E41. You may have other ways you color your images and that is perfectly fine! You can do what suits you best and not follow my steps. The end result is what matters! :)

I then added some shading with E42 in the areas I wanted a little more depth and then went back over with E41.

I then used E43 to darken the shaded areas and continued to blend with E42 and E41 if needed.

For some shadows I used E44 in the areas I wanted some cast shadows. I also used E95 for the nose, cheeks, and inside of the ears for some pink tones. At this point, I continued to fix any hard areas by blending the colors more or adding more color.

Now comes the fun part to see your texture on this cutie!

You will need a washcloth and some colorless blender solution. Add a little bit of solution to your cloth and start patting. Soft light pats work best so that you may add more texture where needed and for a more natural look.

As you can see here, my light tapping began to give the fur a bit of texture and I continued that until I achieved the look I wanted. And the finished product:

Isn't he cute?! Now that my technique is complete, I can go ahead and color the rest of the image and not worry about getting any colorless solution on the remainder.

Now your turn!! Grab some of these adorable images before they are no longer available and try this technique. Thank you for stopping by today and hope I was able to help you achieve this technique with ease! Hope you have a fabulous day and don't forget to check out the other fun new releases in the YNS Store!

CAS Card Series Inspiration with Thanh

Good Monday morning, YNS friends!

It's Thanh here with my CAS post for the series. If you've missed any of the Design Team's CAS posts, here's a list of everyone's projects so far:

Let's review some of the basics of CAS projects:

 • CAS = Clean and Simple
 • Minimal embellishments
 • Usually one focal point
 • Open space/white space
 • Quick to create
While I've been enjoying the last days of the summer weather, I'm super excited that Starbucks brought back the Pumpkin Spice Latte early this year and I've been enjoying this delicious drink for the past week! Even on hot days, I've been asking for the latte to be iced. Yum! My design inspiration for this card comes from the Starbucks gift cards for Fall 2014:

While my end product always looks CAS - I can tell you that in the making of this card, it was anything but! I showed Karen the end photo and she asked me how I always make things look so good but I guarantee you that while in the midst of creating, I'm such a mess! This is how my desk usually looks when I'm in the process and I'm not going to lie, this is still on the tidy side:

The stamp sets and dies I used to create this card are Thanks a Latte and Scripty Word

For further inspiration, please head on over to the YNS Facebook page and don't forget, we're still trying to get to 3,000 followers to giveaway the grand ol' prize:

Thanks for joining me today. If you have any questions, please drop them below! Enjoy your morning coffee.

Thanh :)

Hello! My name is Kerri Michaud and I’m a stay at home mom to 3 kiddos ages 7, 5, and 2! We currently live in Apopka, Florida which is just outside of Orlando. I got into stamping about 2 years ago after I had my first Stampin’ Up party. I was instantly hooked LOL! Before then I had dabbled in scrapbooking, crocheting, sewing, quilting, jewelry making, and whatever other crafty whims that came my way. I think I have found my true passion in stamping and card making though! I also LOVE to make altered items and little gift boxes, etc. I am soooo excited and honored to be part of the Senior DT for Your Next Stamp! I ADORE these darling images and just love working with Karen and the rest of the DT!

Hi my name is Peggy Toole and I am a stay at home mom to 3 great boys who are 11, 12 and 15 and have a wonderful husband who is very understanding about my stamping obsession! We live in the Shuswap, part of the Northern Okanagan in beautiful British Columbia. I have been stamping seriously now for about 3 years and love this hobby and all the wonderful people I've been lucky enough to meet so far! I am thrilled to be part of the Your Next Stamp design team and to be working with such talented women.

Hi everybody! My name is Maureen and I live in sunny Hawaii with my husband, 2 boys and 3 dogs. When I'm not paper crafting, you can find me reading, watching TV, or playing on the computer. I'm so excited to be designing for Your Next Stamp and I hope I can inspire you at least a little with what I create!

Angel Rivera

Angel Rivera
Designer
My name is Angel and I’ve been stamping for over 8 years! I also scrapbook from time to time, but prefer making cards or other little projects. I try to escape to my craft room as often as my 3 boys (ages 16, 12 and 10) and all of their extra activities allow! My husband of 19 years, Derek, is supportive of my crafty time because he knows it makes me happy. I also work full time with a wealth management company and am a licensed life and health insurance agent. I’m so excited to be working with Karen and ALL of the YNS crew!

Bonnie Kohane

Bonnie Kohane
Designer
I am a second generation SAHM, which i call SAHGM. ("G" for grandma). I have been watching my grandkids for 7 yrs. I am also going through a second generation of crafting, i have a scrapbook that is almost 60yrs old filled with all of my favorite memories. I've been featured in Stamper's Sampler..more of an artsy card magazine...but my style tends to be "cute". Card crafting isn't the only thing i like to do, if i am not working on cards, you'd see me working at my sewing machine, crocheting or trying any new craft technique out there.. i love a challenge..which brings me to say..i can't wait to see what you all create for the YNS challenges!

Brianna Loeffelbein

Brianna Loeffelbein
Designer
Hello my name is Brianna also know as Happy Scrapper in the crafting world. I am 26 years old, I am married to a wonderful supportive husband of four years and we have an amazing two year old son Jayden. We live in a small northen town called Brainerd which is located in the state of Minnesota. For the past 7 years, I have been working for our Local UPS Store as store manager and I just love it. When I am not working I am spending time with my family and friends and of course crafting! I have been passionate about crafting my entire life. My main love of course, is Paper Crafting, specifically card making. I also like to sew, bead and crochet and teach others how to show thier creative sides. I am so honored and privileged to be joining such and awesome group of ladies here at YNS, I can’t wait to get started and share all my creations with you!!

Deborah Anton

Deborah Anton
Designer
My name is Deborah Anton and I am a stay at home mom to 11 year old twin boys and a wife of 12 years to a patient, loving, and awesome Army Officer. I am originally from California but currently live in Tennessee. I keep pretty busy just on the home-front with my active boys playing different sports, moving every few years, and volunteering with the Army. But in the little "me" time I do get, I love to do anything crafty and hide in my craft room!! I started out 11 years ago designing and creating jewelry for 2 large retailers, which led me to having my own business; until 8 years ago when I met designer paper and glue. A new love relation began! I am so excited to be part of the YNS team and work alongside so many talented ladies!

Jen Roach

Jen Roach
Designer
My name is Jennifer and I live in Ontario, Canada with my husband and 3 year old daughter. I'm a scientist by day and a paper crafter by night ---or really just about any free time I have including my lunch breaks at work!!

I started out in paper crafting back in about 2002 when my Mom and I took a scrapbooking class together. A few years later I decided to give card making a try and it's been my passion ever since. I'm the world's slowest scrapbooker so the instant gratification of card making really won me over. Over the years I have used more and more stamping in my designs and I love learning and trying new techniques and styles.

I would probably define myself as a "scrappy stamper". I *LOVE* patterned paper and most of my cards have lots of it with added layered on embellishments and textures. My cards may not be easy to mail but boy are they pretty!!

Other than crafting, I love to play tennis as you can probably tell from my blog address:

Julie Elak

Julie Elak
Designer
Hi, I am Julie Elak, aka "The Last Minute Crafter". My days are kept busy working full time and running after my children. I use almost every free minute to craft, my purse is typically full of copics and a pari of scissors. I began stamping well over 10 years ago, but my love for paper crafting found renewed energy once I discovered the online community in 2009. I started a blog on a whim and am so happy I did. I have made many friendships and found so much support and encouragement on-line.

Laura Nehring

Laura Nehring
Designer
My name is Laura, and I am SO excited and honored to be joining the Your Next Stamp Team! I am a former preschool/kindergarten teacher, now stay at home mom to 3 energetic kiddos - 5 year old twin girls, and a 4 year old boy. I met my husband the year I graduated from highschool, and we've been together ever since. We are enjoying life in sunny southern California, where we were both born and raised.

I started scrapbooking in 2006 when I was pregnant with my girls, which led me to stamping and cardmaking a few years later. The point of no return was when I purchased my first Copic marker at a local scrapbook expo 2 years ago... now I'm hooked! I LOVE to color, and it's how I unwind at the end of a busy day! My card making style is fairly clean and simple... I like for the images to be the focus of my creations, so I don't do a lot of embellishing. In addition to Copics, I am also completely obsessed with Kraft Cardstock, and polka dots! I am really looking forward to being a part the YNS team!

Nicole Nastali

Nicole Nastali
Designer
Hi! I’m a former kindergarten teacher who is now a stay at home mom to my 2 little girls. My hubby is supportive of all my crafty pursuits and that says a lot about him because I love all kinds of crafts from making headbands, bows, & designing dresses to making party favors and now cards!! I am a newcomer on the stamping scene and have met so many wonderful crafting friends already thanks to the common joy of card making and coloring with Copic markers. I would color all day long if my family would let me…!! Lol! My favorite colors are the blue greens (affectionately called the BG’s) and I try to sneak them into every card I make!! I love to get crafty with my girls (ages 8 & 6) and let them color images right along side me. It’s a fun hobby for us all to share!! A sleepover stamp from YNS was one of my very first stamp purchases & I’ve been in love with Fhiona & friends ever since!! I’m thrilled to be joining the YNS Team with this group of fabulously talented ladies & I can’t wait to share my cards with you!!

Ruza Rebel

Ruza Rebel
Designer
I'm a former Administrative Assistant turned stay-at-home mom to a very special young lady. I've been crafting since I was a young child, and when I became a SAHM I turned to crafting to stay busy. Staying busy making cards, altering items, and just having fun with paper is an amazing hobby that I truly fell in love with. I'm very grateful that I have a husband that supports me, that my son loves seeing my creations as well, and my special young lady enjoys getting into my crafts. I truly love the challenge of making something beautiful with the various products available to the crafting industry. That is why I am super excited to share my projects featuring the amazing YNS Digital Stamps, and I look forward to seeing your creations as well!

Sheila Veitch

Sheila Veitch
Designer
I was borne and grew up in a small town Canada. I started paper crafting in the fall of 2007, when I saw a stamping catalogue one of my friends had laying around her home. I took one look through the catalogue and was so excited because I knew I had found my favorite hobby at last! Making Cards. I’m a natural born artist, I completed a graphic arts program in college and worked as an artist for several years a life time ago. I currently work as an office administrator in Toronto where I live with my dog Georgie. Though I absolutely love my job, this hobby is my creative outlet. I believe, the cards I make are like little works of art, expressed from the heart. I find that when I’m making a card for a specific person, I am thinking about that person through the whole process. And that in itself can be the gift.

Thanh Vo

Thanh Vo
Designer
